Copy Orientation/Rotation
ImplementedI know A LOT of threads have been made about this and I know the workarounds, but as far as I can tell, years after this has been discussed it still doesn't work the way it could.
Is it possible to have orientation or rotation or flip or whatever just copy from one capture to the next?
I don't want to have to set the Orientation in "Next Capture Adjustments" I want to hit the rotate button and have it stick...
I also don't want to have to turn it off in my Nikon. Just override the auto orientation from the camera, like I can after I've shot it and hit the button, just keep my settings, like everything else.
If it can be done without a short preview of the shot sideways that would be nice too.
Sorry for being grumpy.

Hi Dana,
Thanks for your comment.
Could you please clarify whether the Orientation setting in the Next Capture Adjustments tool should have the option Copy from Last like in some other fields?

Hi Lily,
I don't think that's it. I think I don't want to have to choose an orientation at all.
Because now, if I shoot a thing on a table and decide it would be better to shoot it sideways instead, but not change anything else, I would just rotate the image to see the product right way up, but the next shot reverts back. It doesn't include Rotation in Copy from Last. Unless I go to the clipboard and click the box. It's worse if it's cropped too, because the crop keeps its orientation, not its relationship to the image.
"I don't want to have to set the Orientation in "Next Capture Adjustments" I want to hit the rotate button and have it stick... "
In summary, have Rotation be something that the clipboard selects as adjusted, because I don't think it is now.

I solved it (edit, never mind) with another kind of workaround just now too.
Copy Specific From Last included everything up to, but not including composition. If I click Composition, it behaves the way I need.
But! I just tested it and this isn't a "sticky" setting, so I guess I'm in the same boat as before, it's up to me to remember.
Please make this a sticky change, AND include Composition as something kept from shot to shot in Copy From Last just like contrast or white balance.

Hi Dana,
Please, check this article as well https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002382898-Changing-orientation-when-shooting-tethered-with-a-DSLR-camera
It might be helpful.
Thanks,
Lily

Thank you, I've read that now and know yet another workaround.
In that article you said: "Furthermore, the orientation settings are not automatically copied to a new capture because this would not be desirable in most shooting scenarios."
I think this is the crux. I disagree and know many others that feel the same.
I think including Composition settings to be automatically copied to a new capture would solve it all.
Also when using your described workaround and the other similar ways I've made it work in the past there is a weird inconsistency with the use of the terms Rotation and Orientation. If I shoot something and click the Rotate Left tool at the top of my screen, and then select Rotation in the clipboard, it doesn't copy. If I click Orientation, it does. What is the difference between these words in this context? The effect is the same and it makes it difficult to tell you what is happening and what I need.

Hi Dana,
Thanks for your clarification and more details provided.
I will bring these suggestions to the Product Management team for further consideration.
