Yep, that happens when two files with the same name
are published at the same location as I experienced it.

… with the same extension and all that is.

Another possibility is when a file being a variant.

An other one is that it is in your process recipe.

What's frustrating is that the extension is what should classify it as a different file and not add the '1'. If I had 2 NEF files then fine, but one being a TIFF should not make that happen. I think my work around is going to run process then drag them into the catalog so I can open with when I need to edit. I like having them both in the catalog so I can keep track of the active ones.

@Nikon Shooter which Nikon do you shoot with? I am a D750 & Z6 shooter myself. I am eagerly awaiting news of a new D850 (880 maybe?), hoping to see that in Jan or Feb.

Thanks for getting back to me!

    :)

The example of the variants is still a good one, Lisa, the 1 or 2 or…
will associate the variant to its original… and I only work in sessions.

    I shoot with the D3S, the D3X, the D810 and D850 and 16 lenses
    from 14 to 600mm. I don't think I'll ever go the "Z" way… no suitable.

This happened to me when I first started using C1, coming from Lr. Your NEF files have XMP files on the same folder, C1 reads xmp for all file times, so it doesn't matter if the original is NEF, JPG, TIFF, etc... it thinks the xmp is tied to the original so when exporting a TIFF it doesn't want it to be linked to said xmp, so it adds the "1" on the name. Erase all xmp's on the folder where you are exporting to and you won't have the problem anymore. :)
