Images as layers..

As an attempt to stop using Photoshop, is there any way to have 2 images as layers in C1 20?! 

I often shoot composite, combining a natural light with a flash shot, and being able to layer 2 images (one with a mask) would mean I no longer have to jump into PS to get this done! 

I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this!

    Hey Matthew,

    short answer(s): yes and no!

    NO because CO is not an image — read pixel — editor but
    a data file interpreter and converter.

    That layering is a basic and powerful feature of many pixel
    editors like Ps, Affinity Photo (that I use) and others.

    YES but it is limited to the use of watermarks, CO, in this, is
    not the right application support to you ambitions.

    Thanks!  I suspected that was the case.  My needs are very simple, and most of the time it's simply a case of layering a 2nd image with a basic grad mask.  Loading into PS just seems like overkill and takes a lot of time (comparatively) for the fairly easy process I'm using!  (also a pain that you can't export from C1 into PS as layers as you can in LR!)

    Have Affinity on the iPad... do you rate it on the desktop?  As I said, my needs are very simple!

    I do have an iPad but I use it as virtual portfolio and do
    not contemplate having editing apps on it.

    On my Mac though, AP is very fast, solid… a blast.

    I've been Adobe free since years now and my workflow
    CO to AP has not such difficulties.

    @Matthew Maddock - in response to your question about Affinity on the desktop, I have been using it (occasionally) ever since it was in beta. I have also for the first time, in the last few months, been trying Photoshop. I'd say that many things you would do in the same way and get the same results from both apps, for some things Photoshop has the edge in usability and features, but conversely for some things Affinity is better and easier. Most of the time, they are completely comparable, and Affinity is a whole lot cheaper.

    You also might look into testing out On1 RAW....it has a lot of layering capability...layering of RAW images.

     

    I'm debating my switch to it to C1....there are +'s and -'s to each....I bought both, C1 mostly to tether and live view for my GFX100.....

     

    I "think" the color may be better with C1 raw development, but I"m not sure..I'm still having to compare C1 and On1 RAW.

    But you might take a look at their free preview and see if that extra layering On1 does is what you are looking for.

    It has cataloging , etc too...I switch from LR to On1...and now debating C1 vs On1.
