Crop tool Issues
I've had Capture one for 3 years now and the crop tool still gives me issues. How do you make the corners move on the box? They just randomly decide not to move when you pull on them. I can never maximize my crop window because I see image above the box, but the crop line will not go up there. It can take me several minutes to crop one photo because the sliders don't move. Sometimes they move up and right, sometimes down and left, sometimes not at all. And there is no way that I have found to reset the crop unless you reset the entire image and loose all your edits.
Also can the programmers add "enter to execute" on the other tools also like keystone adjustment and straighten. I have to keystone and straighten then click on crop and press enter :( or click on another tool.

Robert,
You don't need to do anything to make the crop action effective. The Keystone tool is one of very few that need confirmation of an action.
The crop tool is quite simple to use once you have recognised that that is you have some lens correction applied there is a good chance that a crop will also exist to eliminate the distorted areas. Likewise for Rotation, an auto crop taking into account your currently chosen crop ratio and the definition of the currently active Output Recipe or Export settings plus any lens correction factors may well be in play.
If, as a result of one's activities, some corners of the crop end up "Locked" against the edges of the image one may indeed find it become unresponsive until one has decided what one wished to do to free up the rotation once again - typically that will mean grabbing a corner and moving it away from the edge but there are other options.
One can also instruct C1 to crop outside the image although that pretty much assumes that your purpose is to send the file to another application to fill in empty areas later.
If you want to discover what the crop tool does but without the additional constraints of whatever limits a chosen fixed ratio brings to the party just set the option to Unconstrained and go from there. Come back to fixed ratios later.
HTH.

Thank you, I'm familiar with image rotation and having it not crop above the available image. I am also familiar with unconstrained crop. Maybe I will open a ticket and send my video to the support team. I can have a square in the middle of my image, pull on the corners and nothing will happen. And then I move the box to the corner of an image sometimes it will move, but only if I pick the corner that it feels is the one it wants to move. And sometimes the crop will start to expand then stop and I have to move the box to the opposite corner and pull back in the other direction.

Robert,
Which version and release are you using?
Your most recent description sounds very strange UNLESS there is something happening with the base information in the computer memory that means the software thinks the crop is at a different position than you see it on the screen.
Have you been having this problem constantly for 3 years?
You should be able to totally reset the crop (other than any automated lens correction which needs a different approach) by simply clicking the cursor on a position outside the current cropped area and re-drawing it.
To redraw the crop anew from a position INSIDE the current crop area hold down the SHIFT key and then click and draw as before.
Do you by any chance have some "interesting" output process recipes in your recipe library that might be influencing what you are seeing on screen - especially if using the Proofing option?
Your description certainly sounds like something strange is going on. If non of these suggestions sheds any form of light on things I thikng you would do well to use the "Submit a request" option and contact support for personalised assistance.

Version 20 Build 13.1.0.162 Ive had the issues ever since version 12 or 13 on both Mac and PC I did some troubleshooting tonight. If the image is slightly rotated, and the box starts on one of the edges of the photo. It will not move. Is that because it cant auto scale the edge of the rotated image? Maybe that's all it is.

It is possible that the crop you are trying to achieve would move one of the corners outside the boundaries of the rotated image. (You can counter that with the "crop outside image"option, though that will leave you with some blank areas.)

I'm bumping this because I've suddenly run into the same problem as Robert. I'm using version 21, build 14.2.0.48 (bc4d176).
I've never had a problem with the crop tool before, and I use it a lot. But today, toward the end of a very long mass edit, it just started being stubborn. It simply won't permit you to grab it. I'm able to get it 'unstuck' by repeatedly clicking and dragging within the image, but there's no discernible rhyme or reason to what eventually unsticks it. And some images the crop works fine, but at this point most don't.
FWIW, it you use the rotate tool on one of the 'stuck' images, it doesn't help. I thought it might, but it makes no difference. Also no help: closing and reopening, and even rebooting computer.
This problem has added significant time onto my project and I'm getting pretty frustrated here, so any help would be welcome.

I am also having this issue, where the crop tool suddenly stops functioning. Version 22 here.

I'm also having this issue. Just downloaded for the first time on a 30-day trial. It was working and now it won't allow me to crop at all.
