Not enough memory and blurry watermarks
Hi,
On one of my process recipes, watermark is very blurry however on another one it is tack sharp. Also time to time I am getting not enough memory error message.
My watermark is just a text of my name, with a font chosen in C1 and set as pixels.
Edit: my process recipe has a dimension limit, however if I cancel the dimension limit the watermark becomes sharp.
Any help or thoughts on these?
Cheers,
Fatih

Have you tried experimenting with the font size?
Fonts tend to be scaleable but only within limits of required presentation size.

Hi,
Yes, even if you make it maximum it is still not sharp as in other recipes. If you cancel the dimension limit then it gets sharp but that doesnt make sense, in any case it should be sharp

Are you fitting the selected font size to align with the size of the output?
So a bigger output starts iwth a large font, a smaller output a smaller one.
The nature of fonts seems to be that the underlying "graphics" have different scaling starting points and limits to scaling built into those. Once operating outside the internal presets they just do rough graphical scaling from their maximum or minimum preset vectors and that can look very messy.
I'll guess that there are no guaranteed "standards" and each font creator will be preparing things in their own way so results are unlikely to be consistent across all fonts.
The result may also depend on whether you are working with pixels or points.
I tend to start with a fairly large version of the font - say 48 - and then scale from there for each recipe.
Go smaller for rather small outputs if needed. Larger for bigger dimensions. Again, if needed. Much depends on the length of the text.

Well I didn't have any single issue with this on previous versions, they all look much cleaner. So something has happened on this version.
What do you mean by "are you fitting"? I mean they have obviously different scaling however on the pictures they look proportionally same.

It's common for font files that offer a significant range of base sizes for the font to have separate sections that cover the sizes at the graphics level which , I assume, are designed to work with different levels of zoom/resizing where actioned.
Going outside expected zoom range for that base scale target of the font seems to cause problems.
So for example if you start with a large font for a large output dimension but then use the same settings for a much smaller output the results may not be quite as intended. Equally starting with a small font and enlarging the output of the poriginal file may exceed the graphics processing capabilities.
Sorry that this is a rather crude answer. It has been a long time since I last looked at this particular area of functionality and the details are not fresh in my mind. (There is also he possibility that some things have changed since then ...)

I just had the same issue, blurry watermark with some recipes (no memory problem), and I messed around with the Watermark tab, font, scaling etc to no avail.
In poking around, I was able to correct the existing recipe, by adjusting the scale under Basic tab, not the Watermark tab. The existing recipe had the scale set to 300px when it should have been full size.
reseting it to fixed 100% in this recipe fixed the problem, so I am presuming that something got messed up with the existing recipe when the C1 software was upgraded to 20 or 21.
