File Structure
I have scattered files and they seem to open multiple copies of capture 1 Iwant to consolidate all i to i referenced catalogue or move all the files except the app. So I caa as n use the program and then gradually sort through . I have 4 external disks plus my hd o on a Mac and what do yiu suggfest. I’m happy to move all but they are scattered i to 20 plus different areas and i would love a reference to a good program that can sort and find snd make it possible for me to move all so I can start fresh.

If "multiple copies" of Capture One seem to be opening, then what is probably happening is that each catalog or session you open is being opened in Capture One in a new window. There is an option for that in preferences: go to Preferences>General, and in the catalog and session section uncheck the "open in new window" option.
If you want to, you can consolidate all your scattered files into one master catalog. I could suggest ways of doing it, but could you say first whether they are in sessions, catalogs, or both, and (roughly) how many images are we talking about in total?
