Request that moderators be added to the forum
Suggest recruiting some willing volunteers to monitor the forums and:
- Delete the SPAM
- Move messages to the appropriate forum
- And just provide a bit more "ambiance" than what we are currently achieving
This would cost Capture One nothing in the terms of manpower.

Christopher,
Whilst I support the suggestion we probably need to remember that this is not a stand alone forum system but an integral part of the corporate "Community" help desk application and so may not readily support the concept of external moderators.
I would have thought that it would be wise for this to be managed internally - if only to preserve the impression of "quality".
However the same goes for the problems of user names and duplication - especially the incredibly silly "FirstName LastName" situation.
In the previous forum that was eliminated, albeit in a slightly clunky way. Why it is being left to fester using this forum one can only guess at.
On the other hand if people do not care about their identity on the forum being a shared resource one might conclude that they don't really care about getting a personalised answer to any questions they ask, in which case their posts could be ignored by everyone.

Were someone around to "separate the what from the chaff", it would not be an issue. But just by the amount of SPAM that's being collected, no one is at the wheel.
If Capture One is unwilling/unable to do it, then they should be opened minded enough to accept help.
Based upon my experience with the spectacular ZenDesk software over at the Netgear forum (the only forum I have found to use Zendesk for that purpose BTW), there are non-Netgear moderators.

In that case it might be possible if there are no security issues and, presumably, if access can be restricted to exclude any unwelcome access to official documentation, etc..
