ditching Lightroom
I bought Capture one for Nikon a few weeks ago and i'm very happy. After importing the LR catalogs i'm redevepoling some shoots and i am wondering if i can throw the LR catalogs away.
Early next year my subscription will and on LR and i like to clean up my computer.
what will happen if i throw the LRCat file away?

At least 2 things will happen:
1. You won't be able to reimport or refer the LR catalog in case you later discover a problem with your new C1 catalog.
2. You won't be able to see or print any of your LR edits.
My understanding is that when the subscription expires, you can still see and print all the work you've done in LR; you just can't import, edit, or do other work in LR.
Suggestion: Save both the last version of LR you get, plus the catalog, for a reasonable time (you decide what "reasonable" is). I finally tossed my old Aperture catalog a couple of years after switching because I found that I no longer referred to it. I definitely wouldn't ditch all the old stuff on Day 1.

Good wisdom!
I ditched adobe quite a while ago, well before I had to think of any
loss I would regret. I never worked in library though, only in session.0 -
But i will stop with Lightroom in february and do i need to keep the program on my computer?

I haven't used Lightroom for making adjustments for years. I do have a backup of the LR catalog -- you just never know.

I dumped LR and went back to CaptureOne when they released the "for Nikon" version (coded message for "when it was available once again at a realistic price").
The LR images are in a folder on the hard drive and I simply "imported" the image files to a new referenced CO catalog - they are not moved from the location on the disc and can still be accessed via LR.
In contrast to how I have found LR, I like PS and use it a lot so I'm stuck with the Adobe subscription, but gld to be rid of clunky LR.

May I suggest you investigate Serif's Affinity Photo? I use it since years!

I was active in the AP Beta discussion forums from the very early releases. It's good - almost certainly the best value for moeny in higher end editors - but I prefer Photoshop.
There are some indirect reasons for the preference too - I'm very active in the local camera club and need to be good at Adobe speak to communicate with the members and judges.
