Take a picture as a layer and insert into another photo

I took two pictures, picture one has a great shot of the moon (in focus etc) picture two has some great light on some trees but the moon is out of focus.

Obviously, I should have paid more attention when taking them. I was trying to crop and take picture one as a layer and insert into picture two (masking the duff moon in that). I have read over tutorials and masked the out of focused moon in photo two. However, in my searches I don't see how to make picture one a layer for photo two? What did I miss?

  You can't do that in Capture One, and you will need to use a pixel editor such as Photoshop or Affinity Photo for a task like that.
