For Kevin: It is really simple to duplicate your RAW file and use a copy for editing. If you use Capture One for WB only it can produce either a JPEG or a TIFF. The TIFF is preferable because it contains more info as a RAW does and is better for printing if you do that.
In the case of your producing a TIFF with Capt. 1, it will preserve your original file with a duplicate since you haven't saved it as a PSD or as a RAW-just as if you gave it a new name.
I have encountered a wrinkle however and I don't know where it comes from. I have exported some white balanced photos from Capt. 1 to my desk top and find it littered with .xmp files which are the side car files that LR produces! I haven't yet figured out where they are coming from. If anyone has seen that or knows about it, please let me know.

If you have .xmp files being produced by Capture One then it is to do with a setting in the Image section of the Capture One preferences. If you don't require Capture One to produce .xmp files for syncing with something else, set this to Never as shown here.
