Capture One Pro Fuji and Express Nikon

You can have two instances of Capture One installed on the same system, each running a different mode. Please note that it is not a preferred setup. The trick is to rename at least one of the instances.

There are a few caveats, though.

You can only run one instance at a time. Not a big issue, I suppose. Both instances use the same preference file. This file remembers, among others, the last used catalog (or session) but also the used workspace.

Here you easily can get into trouble. Express mode is restricted in these areas and the confusion can easily drive you nuts.

Also, updating a renamed version is tricky if you do not exactly know what you are doing.

All in all, you might want to spend some additional money and upgrade to the full Pro. Or run Express from a different user account on your computer or from a virtual machine. I think it is better to keep it separate if you wish not to upgrade to Pro.

    Thanks Paul

For the small mount of time I need to access my old Nikon files, I can't justify the full version (I'm exclusively Fuji now). The idea of running from a different user account is great though, thanks, I hadn't thought of that and I reckon that's the way to go.
