I have no idea what Mac's allow but Windows usually offers the following options.

CTRL + A will select all images.

CTRL  + mouse click will allow selections of individual images.

Highlight One image with a click, move to another image and choose Shift then click on the next image with the mouse will select first clicked and last clicked and everything in between.

Highlight an Image, hold down the Shift key and move to another image with an arrow key will also select a contiguous set of images. If you have the Browser set to Grid mode this allows you to move a row at a time (for example).

If you are saying there are other options for Windows users I will freely admit I am not aware of them.

Mac works just like Windows in this respect, except using Cmd rather than Ctrl. For using Shift, it's just the same as Windows.

    Ian,

That's what I thought  - so what is the "keyboard repeat" function referring to?

Just holding an arrow key down and scrolling through listed files?

Is that also an option on Mac at the application level?

I'm not sure that the core OS level functionality would work nicely with some of the Browser image grouping features (like the creation of "sets" for example and other options for selections seem to be preferable (at least to me). Preselecting the images by filtering, for example, and then simply selecting all of them.

Or using the browser in grid mode with the smallest thumbnails and jumping down the rows selecting all the contents of each row.

If that does ot suit then I think it is time to create a Support Case.

No, I wouldn't expect to select by just holding down an arrow. There is a keyboard repeat function for some things, as there is in Windows, so if I press and hold the . key I get .............

In Finder (equivalent of File Explorer, I think) I can hold Shift and use the down arrow to select a list of files, but I don't ever do that - I would use Click on the first and Shift+Click on the last, or Cmd-Click on each one.

In Capture One, in the browser view, or in the browser strip along the side/bottom of the Viewer, I discover that I can select multiple images by holding shift and then the arrow keys. Never knew that, and I am not sure that I would use it, but perhaps it does what the OP wants?

Correct. Let’s say I shoot an event and take 1000 photos. I want to process 200 of them so I rate and color tag them and get them ready to process. Sort them top to bottom. I go down to image 200 then want to select up to number one. Click on the last photo. Hold shift and hold the up arrow. Nothing happens. It should ..................... and select them all. I have to press the up arrow 200 times. While holding the shift key. Hold shift. Up up up up up up up up...

    Robert,

You can click on one image and "select all".

Or click on the first to highlight it, move to the last and SHIFT click and all in between will be selected.  Select the last and than move to the first and SHIFT click will also work!

But I would Select All.  CTRL- A. Much quicker.

Also have the "Edit all selected Variants" toggle set the required value as well of course.

The keyboard repeat doesn't work in multiple areas of the program.  Like scrolling through images, importing, selecting.  But like I said, on my MAC no issues at all.  I might just have to suffer till there is a program update.  And I can't control A for 1000 images when I only want 200.  And to edit selected variants, first you have to select them.  I'll try working with the Shift click first, shift click last method.  But its like a work around for something that should already work.  Or maybe I will try working with the color tag and rating filters.  Then just Ctrl A the set when they are ready to go.

    Robert,

If you have already filtered the 1000 to just the 200 Ctrl A will just select the 200.

Yeah once I learn that feature. :) I don’t really know it yet. I know it’s there somewhere. But haven’t figured out it’s quirks yet. I always seem to loose stuff when I sort and filter it.
