Message when importing from SD card "No images in folder"

I have new images on my SD cards, but get a message saying "No images on folder". I have tried turning Find Duplicates on and off but this makes not difference.

I am using C1 11.

    Just checking in to see if anyone has any ideas about how to resolve this issue i.e. I know I have images on my SD cards, I can view them in Finder, but on import Capture One says there are no new images.

    Any help very much appreciated.

    Are there multiple folders on the SD card? If so are you sure you are pointing at the right one?

    Are the file names possible duplicates of already imported images (assuming from what you wrote that you have the ceheck for duplicates enabled. If not that should not matter).

    If you copy the files to a disk in your computer and then try to import from there, what happens?

    Hi. Re your suggestion 1. I don't have multiple folders on the SD card.

    Suggestion 2: Re the duplicates, yes, there are other images already imported that have the same number within them (eg an already imported image called DSC05212 and an image I am trying to import called DSC5212 - but normally C1 would recognise that the images are not the same and therefore still import the second image with the same name. Also, the images don't show on C1 even with exclude duplicates not ticked.

    Re your suggestion 3: yes, I can import this way. So thanks for this idea. I would still like to be able to import directly from SD to C!, as it won't be ideal to have to always import to my computer first.

    I have tested importing from another SD card, and the same thing happens, so its not a problem with the card itself. Could it be that I have changed something in my import setup that is causing the issue? I have attached a screen shot.

    I seem to have found a solution. While I usually use the previously set import source of "untitled" (the name of my SD card) I have found that by selecting another source, and then going back again to "untitled", the import then works correctly.

    Thanks for your help. It was your suggestions that prompted me to try this option.

    Hi Sharon,

    The links to previously used locations likely use some unseen identifiers behind the scenes. In effect probably attempts to differentiate, in so far as available information allows, different SD cards (or any memory cards) via the reader device into which they are currently just as if they were uniquely named disks. In most use cases they can be considered as "disks" but maybe not uniquely named.

    So if using an existing "previously used" location the link to that location may be identifying a different card or any card but at a different location - i.e. a different reader device.

    Unless one has a very specific and unchanging process for shooting and importing from a card - such that the previously used and retained link to an import folder on the card never changes - it is probably better so assume that reselecting the source folder for each new import session after a card change will be the most consistent approach.

    Saving previous locations is a huge benefit in some situations and is to be applauded in principle but it's one of those feature types that is not necessarily to be used just because its there UNLESS the system naming conventions in use are always unique. That is unlikely for memory cards (at least in my experience and usage!)

    Something to file away in personal memory to be recalled should you experience the same problem in the future. Which it probably will despite out best efforts. We are, after all, discussing computer systems here and no aspect of that technology  is perfect.

    Thanks for your explanation. This makes sense to me now. I did import from this card to my work computer before this issue occurred. And this is not something I usually do. So this totally fits with your theory of what happened.
