Have to restart C1P after changing camera battery

Tethering kills the batteries, so I turn the camera off, pull the battery, install fresh one. C1P doesn't even show that the camera ever even disconnected. It just sits there looking like it's all on and then nothing. Restart the program, everything starts as normal, back to work. 

 

I'm using a Nikon D800 and C1P 12.1.4 on Catalina 10.5.5.

16" MBP, 2.4ghz, 8 Core, 64gb RAM. 

What can I do?
