Rotate Function

Have you already tried saving the Workspace with its own name when you have the Rotate Freehand setting set?

More often than not I rotate when using the Crop tool but when I use the Rotation and Flip tool I tend to use the slider or set the cursor in the rotation value box and use the "mouse wheel" equivalent on my track pad.

V20 has some changes in the appearance of the Crop functionality  - I can't remember if the Rotate tool does as well.

I don't have a readily accessible V12 system to run a quick test to check how it work back than. Not too different as I recall, but recall could be misleading.

Have not.  This might also solve the issue of the wrong Output Recipe being selected on startup.  I'll give it a try and report back.

    Thanks!

Saved my workspace on both my desktop and laptop.  No different.

Just ANOTHER one of Capture One's many eccentricities....

I also find it annoying that I every time, after having launched FCP, must switch manually to 'rotate freehand'. It always starts with the default 'straighten' although I have saved my workspace with the desired presets.

Perhaps there's a solution, any suggestions?

    Cheers, Peter

I don't know of a way to make it default to freehand rotation at the top of the list of rotation tools. However here are a couple of suggestions.

I almost always select the rotate tool using the keyboard shortcut R instead of clicking the toolbar button. R is also the shortcut for the freehand rotation tool (so you a cycle through the tools on that toolbar button by repeatedly pressing Shift-R). However this suggests a couple of things you could try.

    • Edit keyboard shortcuts and remove R as the shortcut for the Straighten tool. R will then only select the freehand rotation tool.
      or...

    • Edit keyboard shortcuts - retain R for Straighten, but change the shortcut for Freehand rotation to something else - for instance change it to ; (semi-colon) which as far as I can see isn't used for anythjing at the moment. Then if you want the Straighten tool you hit R and if you want the Freehand rotation tool you hit ; instead. It would soon become second nature.

    Wow! That's such a great tip ;)
Thx so much Ian. It's been irritating me for so long and It just didn't came up to me that I could edit the keyboard shortcuts, although I used them all the time.
I have immediately made the new shortcut and it works perfectly

Thanks so much and happy day(s)!
