Metadata handling glacially slow in C1 v12

Is anyone else finding that handling metadata in C1 to be glacially slow? I can watch the various display increment as a star or color rating is applied to a series of photos.

For a large number of images, it can take several minutes.

    Not a function that I've ever found to take a long time. 

    I wonder whether you have metadata syncing turned on? That might slow things down. See the Image tab of Preferences, under Metadata. You could try turning it off, if it is on, and see whether that makes a difference.
