Best method for replicating Canon DPP color?

New C1 user here. I've been using Canon's DPP for quite some time. I know, I know...  It's clunky and very slow.  That's why I'd like to move to C1. However, I haven't been able to get the color and sharpening to my taste. Does anyone have suggestions for replicating DPPs color or sharpening?  Currently shooting with a Canon R5.

    Hi Marc,

    This is a recurrent problem many people using Canon, Nikon, Fuji cameras have. For Nikon and Fuji, Capture One can now go close to the in-body camera renderings. This is not (yet ?) the case for Canon. It is a sort of dream to simulate in-body adjustments (or, in the same spirit, old film renderings) using a RAW converter. You can go closer, yes, but it is almost impossible to get the same result as provided by the cameras themselves.

    Not remotely true, Robert - despite your overly-confident assertions. It is absolutely possible to replicate Canon's colours in Capture One.

    There's no "science" involved, it's just a case of working at it.

    But why accept a Canon engineer's idea of colour anyway? One of the reasons people use Capture One over DPP is because it allows us to produce better images - in colour terms too - than DPP.

    There's nothing "definitive" about Canon's colours off the camera/out of DPP.

    Keith - I think you're probably right. I've only been at it a few days and most likely just need more practice. I'm most concerned with getting the skin tones. It just seems so easy with DPP despite the awkward and slow interface. So far several viewers at the studio have preferred my DPP conversions vs C1.

    I know this is an old thread, but I have the same question. I have used DPP so far and am now evaluating C1 (on a trial license for now). I very much like the interface, the performance, the added features, but I am so unhappy with the colors and prefer the color scheme in DPP. Have you (or anyone else) had any success and advice how to get there?

    Hi Barbara - As the original poster of this topic I can say that it just took me a little time to get up to speed in C1, but I now achieve results that are the same if not better than DPP. I'm very happy with C1. And of course, it's a million years ahead in terms of workflow and speed. There was no quick and easy answer for me. I basically just watched a lot of Capture One and misc Youtube tutorials and took notes. I know it's a bit of a bummer because DPP gave pretty fantastic colors out of the box... But that interface, ugh, I had enough.

    Thanks for responding! That is very encouraging indeed. I will explore more and hope it won't take me too long to master the colors. Agree that the Capture One video channel is very useful. I was optimistically hoping for some presets or similar to get closer to DPP colors, but will see what I can figure out...

    I was really hoping to find a DPP Capture One Style for sale somewhere. It's nice to know I am not alone in loving DPP out of the box. DPP has nothing going for it other than color. I wish Canon would share it's DPP recipe with the Capture One people. I don't think I'll buy another Canon camera because of this.
