GPU Use
I just upgraded my graphics card from an old Nvidia GTX 680 4GB to a not-that-old AMD RX 580 8GB. I’m on C1 20 build 13.1.2.37, Mac OS 10.13.6 High Sierra, 4 core I7 CPU w/ hyperthreading.
Playing around with a torture-test session of giant stitched images (36k px wide), I’m wondering if I’m seeing expected behavior. C1 Prefs –> HW Acceleration is set to Auto for both Display & Processing.
1. Zooming in to a large file with a few masked layers: while Viewer refreshes, Activity Monitor shows actual CPU cores pegged, hyper threads empty, GPU activity mostly empty, process takes a long time (as before with old GPU). Similar behavior when switching a layer on/off.
2. Exporting a TIFF shows all 8 threads in use with ImgCoreProcess ~500% CPU. GPU shows negligible use.
Does this seem correct? It doesn't to me... Anything I should check into?
Thanks!

There should be a message under the Prefs entries to indicate whether Hardware Acceleration is actually available.
Assuming it is showing that is is available the question may be whether the software is able to make use of the expected processing facilities when dealing with a stitched Tiff rather than a RAW file. My general understanding is that there are certain processes for which OpenCL can be extremely helpful in terms of performance of those processes (providing the rest of the computer's hardware can cope with feeding the data in fast enough and then taking it back again and rebuilding the results).
But there are other things for which there will be no or very little benefit. In addition there is no reason to expect a GPU to be running at high capacity all the time for image processing although at peak demand the benefit of the maximum performance available may not be fully visibly in reporting tools.
Hopefully others will come along to offer their opinions and experiences - especially if they are Mac users.

Just bought a MacBookPro16 2019 (i9-32Gb-AMD5500M 8Gb-Catalina 10.15.7) and installed Capture One 20 Pro (build 13.1.3.9 latest release).
Problem : about 2 sec time lag when sliding an adjustment cursor and the expected result on the refreshed image on screen. (no external display connected)
Checks : COP preferences set to "auto" by default (material acceleration OpenCL), OS X energy saver set to "unchecked" for "graphics auto swap" and the activity monitor window under the capture one line, it says "no" in the graphic card column.
So, how to be sure the GPU is automatically active in COP to solve (?) problem described above.
Feedback & experiences would be greatly appreciated.
