Hi Mark,
Thank you for your request.
Whilst we cannot comment on the updates in the future versions of Capture One, I will send your request to the corresponding thread dedicated to the camera models and RAW files support here.

Hi Lily... Maybe it was good to tell Mark that the Apple ProRaw format is saved as a DNG.
So Capture One already supports DNG. There are no camera profiles of course but his question was if Capture One wile support the file format and that is DNG so the answer to his question would just have been: Yes.

It is technically correct that COP21 can import and process DNG files. But the Apple Pro Raw format (not really RAW) has some special features that are useful. For example, the editor can adjust the Apple Local Tone Mapping process - and this is a key feature for using this "RAW". For example, the application RawPower (for Mac and iOS devices) now supports editing these images and adjusting the local tone map. So, perhaps the real question is whether COP21 will support the Apple controls and API embedded in the DNG file. The file that the iPhone 12 creates is a 12-bit linear RGB value for every pixel - Apple has already done the demosaicing. These new iPhones are really pushing into the "serious" camera neighborhood - my experience so far is that given the 12 mPix image limitations, these images are high quality and can benefit from editing.

In my experience, C21 can import an Apple DNG but all of the editing tools are greyed out so while the image is in the C21 catalog, it can not be edited. Hopefully I am doing something wrong but for now I am editing any iPhone 12 Pro Max photos in Apple Photos. My primary camera is a Sony A7R3 so no comparison with IQ but darn the apple computational algorithms are really really good.

If you really want to edit these Apple Pro Raw images, then get a copy of Raw Power on the Mac App Store. It supports the format and has a slider to adjust the Apple Local Tone Map - which in my experience can be very helpful - I think Apple is a little too aggressive. At this point, I think Raw Power is the only editing app that is processing this format correctly. It is inexpensive and there is a evaluation copy you can get.
I have a Sony A7RM4 which I really like for landscapes - but the iPhone Pro Max does pretty well considering the 12mPix sensor.

Hi there
I have the same issue as Offtraildog. I can not edit Apple DNG in C21 and even can't rate them with stars or tag them with keywords. I don't want to use a second program. I would love to use only C21. Can it be that only the Pro Version is working with DNG files and the Sony version not?
Thanks for your help!

Hey Johanna
I got a direct response from C1 re: the apple DNG. It is a generic DNG but Apple's ProRaw which is NOT supported in any version of C1.
BTW - If you want to edit the HEIC file from Apple, you need C1-Pro

Hi Offtraildog
Thank you for your quick response. That's interesting as I found some articles about Apple Pro Raw and C1 working and bringing goos solutions.
And with my Sony version of C1 I can edit HEIC.
We will see, perhaps it will be included in an update.0 -
Hmm. I have C1 for Sony and cannot edit HEIC for my iPhone 12 Pro Max. C1 gives me a message that the file will be a lower quality image and to export to disk which creates a jpg.
How are you importing the HEIC into C1?

I just tried again and it is still working :-)
First I send the pictures via airdrop from my iPhone to my MacBook. And then I import the pictures with the import dialogue into C1. They are still HEIC after the import. And there is no message or anything from C1 and editing is working fine.

Hi ... My workflow has been different. I use iCloud Photos Library and Apple Photos as my DAM. C1 is not able to view, access or directly import photos from Apple Photos so I have been drag/drop into C1 or onto my desktop which generates a .jpeg.
This time, from Apple Photos, I export an unmodified original to the desktop (HEIC) and was able to import the HEIC into C1 as a HEIC. Yipee. Unfortunately the Lens Correction tool is greyed out but the other tools I use in C1 are avail.
BTW - I have a similar workflow with the Sony RAW files from my A7R3 camera so this works fine for me. I wish C1 could directly access the iCloud library
Thanks for your help!
