Brush size keys stopped working

Still learning the basics here, so please forgive if I've missed something obvious.

Yesterday, I was able to adjust the size and hardness of my brushes by the left and right bracket keys [  ]

Today, that just suddenly stopped working. 

I see that this is a known issue - has it been resolved yet?

AND

I just bought the 'Sony only' version. Assuming that this gets fixed, will I have to buy another version to take advantage of the fix?
