Delete from disk in Capture One 21 (Mac)

First, I can confirm that the "Delete from Disk" command (Image menu or shortcut) has a different default in the dialog that it invokes in Capture One 21, compared to the previous release (20).

In Capture One the default was the "Delete from Disk" button, not the "Remove from Catalog", and in Capture One 21 is it the other way round.

This kind of change is often done after user request or for safety. The "Remove from Catalog" is obviously recoverable, the other option "Delete from Disk" not.

Some prefer the older option, some the newer. And as far as I known there is no preference setting to change the default behavior.

A feature request at the support department is your last resort, I am afraid.

"Delete from disk" should be really delete from disk, it is nothing to do with "Remove from catalog". Yes, it is not recoverable (this is the goal in my workflow), but pressing 3 keys + enter cannot be done by mistake - the current behaviour is an annoying design mistake.

No M1 chip version, the new "features" are a joke, plus this annoying new behaviour - pre-paying for the upgrade was a mistake...

I agree that the function is called "Delete from Disk". There you have a point. I noticed that too but forgot to include it in my reply.

That's all I can do for you.

Thank you - just found where to open a request with support, just completed.

This has caused a bit of confusion with me also. I've had to break my habit of control - command - delete and then hitting Enter (on Mac). Now that "Removes From Catalog". But where does the file go when you choose "Remove from Catalog"? I don't see the file in the catalog trash. What command moves the file to the CO catalog trash?

But where does the file go when you choose "Remove from Catalog"?

A catalog is  an index to the "file" plus storage for image modifications.   When you remove something from a catalog you remove the index entry and related data.  The "file" was never physically in the Catalog unless you used the "Copy into Catalog" option during import.

If you used "Copy into Catalog" the file is in your Catalog Trash after being Removed from Catalog.  I think.  I don't copy images to the Catalog so I'm not sure.  If you do not use "Copy into Catalog" the image is where it always was -- wherever you put it before (or during) import to Capture One.
