When trying to view files older than 2015-16 I get a message to upgrade machine before possible to view in original quality!?!?

This applies both to jpg and raw. I thought jpg was a standard file format to be handled regardless of program so what is the difference between a file converted by CO in 2015 and 2017?

It is also a problem to upgrade as batch. Must be done individual for all files.
