Exporting offline files (after losing source files)

a few moments ago, I discovered that I deleted images (a couple of weeks ago) that had been accidentally 'added' to the C1 catalog instead of 'copied'. ouch!

unfortunately, C1 currently doesn't have any way to show/search all offline images in the catalog. I'd like to see this criteria added to the Smart Album dialog.

if you want access to thumbnails of all of the images in your catalog, you can control-click on the catalog in the Finder, and choose Show Package Contents. the 'Cache' folder will be inside, complete with thumbnails and previews of your offline images.

in my case, many of the images didn't have previews. I don't know why. perhaps my images were too small to require the generation of previews. many of the images are ancient, taken back in the days when images were only 640x480. hopefully you'll have better luck.

    cheers.

    1. I've recovered 99% of my image files using Disk Drill. I then used a couple of AppleScript scripts to extract the image information from C1, scan the rescued image files for a match (in byte size), copy the matched images to their original locations and rename the matched images. I'm now only missing 4 images out of 1000.

    2. it's easy to discover which images are offline. control-click any folder/volume in the Folders tab and choose "Synchronize...". then click "Show Missing Images". C1 creates a new album containing the missing images. very nice.

    cheers.
