Capture one Export Feature Request

    I'm not sure I'm following your question 100%, forgive me if I've gotten it wrong.

    I sort my incoming files similarly:

    December/Julie
    December/Alice
    December/cats
    and so on.

    When I create JPGs, they are automatically placed in Julie/jpg/ and Alice/jpg etc.  In your Process Recipe tool, under the File tab: Root Folder = Image Folder (where the original NEF image is) and Sub Folder is what the new export folder (jpg) will be called.

    Does this help?

    @NFGphoto,

    I think that is exactly the problem. So you have to set the folder every time. If you export Julie images, you have to the set the folder december\julie. If ypu export Alice, you have to set december\alice. And bad luck if you has to export images Julie, Alice and Cats in one step... I have to define the root folder explizit. If the export recipes knowing where the original files are located, it's could be determined to root folder by self.

    Well, no, that's what I'm trying to say: you set the new sub folder once, and that recipe will always go there.

    If you set it up the way I describe, it will always create a sub folder in the same folder where the starting image was.

    If that's not what you want it to do, I would love for you to help me understand your question.

    @NFGphoto

    Yes, you're right. I found the option File, Image folder in Process Recipes now.

    But I don't understand the second option in "Output location". I used this option, I know now, that was wrong.

    I have the same things in "Export". I found the option in "Export Recipes" and the other destination in "Export location".

    I'm confused now...

    The export tool is confusing. Primarily it is so, because it has so much power. If you read the online help for the output location tab (https://support.captureone.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002635457-Selecting-the-destination-location-using-output-location-tool?language=en&isTrial=false&remainingTrial=0&variant=3&version=14.0.1&rk=90c0847cdfc58362104b66414168669e8b461f614083bbbdc303c64bf04a7b6e&tool=output-location) it might make things clearer.

    The way i understand it is: the file location in the recipe and the output location "can" (don't have to) work together. So you can have a "subfolder created in your recipe", and the common root folder could be supplied by the "global output location tool". I normally have no need for that, so my experience is limited.

    but, e.g., if you create a process recipe to state: let's put everything in a subfolder "recipe", and the output location put's everything in "D:\myoutput", then that recipe produces a file in "D:\myoutput\recipe\file.jpg".

    Does that help, or did i increase the confusion?

    Happy holidays

    Found this thread and this missing feature is one big point which holds me back from buying Capture One Pro 21.
    In software like SilkyPixx or even my old Lightroom 6 you are able to set the output location to the original file folder.

    So when you change the folder in which you process your RAW file, the export folder will automatically set to the new choosen folder - no manual selection or extra output folder.

    Just the ability to export the JPEG in the same folder as the processed RAW file.
    I havent't found yet this possibility in Capture - neither in any preferences, nor in the Export Dialog.

    I'd appreciate if anyone can show me a way to do this.

    BTW - Luminar 4 and Luminar AI have the same problem or missing feature.

    If you go to the "Process Recipe" "File" Tab, and choose "Image Folder" as the Root folder, the exported file will be in the same location as the source file.

    Muchas gracias Frank !

    That was exactly what I was looking for.

    I tried this already, but didn't understand that if I have to use this changed settings in the Process recipe, I have to use "Process" instead of "Export"

    Now after I set  the Output to "ImageFolder" all I have to do ist fiddle with my RAW file and then simply hit Ctrl+D

    Works like a charme and now the next thing is to "process my bank account" and "export some money" to Capture One :)

    Martin

    BTW - great and fast community support ...
