Setting up CO 20
Hi,
I have a plenty of photos now in Aperture. I want to set up CO system and build it manually. To an external drive (I guess this is irrelevant).
My plan is to set up approximately 10 main categories, as 1 travels, 2 flying, 3 family, 4 bike etc. Each category will include several subcategories/folders which are pretty well organized in Aperture at the moment. As in Japan 2012, Japan 2014 and so on.
I am a bit confused about the hierarchy in Collection - Catalog - Session management and how they should be used to set up a simple system.
Any good advice on how to build my CO structure?

Hi,
I think these links could help you:

I imported my Lightroom catalogue about a few years ago, and it had the same structure as my folder hierarchy in my image storage DD. The result was that Capture One built its catalogue in the same way, and I got a "copy" of my folder structure. My Lightroom "collections" were imported as "albums" in Capture One, but I don't know how this type of set is called in Aperture.
As far as I know, "sessions" are specific to Capture One, and I don't think it existed in Aperture. It is adapted to photographers who work within projects (weddings, events, etc...), i.e. mostly professionals, but you can work under that scheme if you like. I would suggest to read the relevant pages on the Capture One support.
