Pictures from cap 20 to cap 21 on Mac
I have been trying to transfer my pictures from capture one 20 to capture one 21. does anyone have any advice for some reason I can't figure it out . thank you

Your pictures are in a catalog or a session created in Capture One 20. You can open Capture One 21, then open the session or catalog you want. But you won't see them on the list at the top of the Library tool, because that is just a recent files list, and until you have started using Capture One 21, there won't be any recent files.
So you go to File>Open, and navigate to the .cocatalog file or the .cosessiondb file you want to open. When you open each catalog or session in Capture One 21 for the first time, Capture One will tell you that the catalog or session needs to be upgraded to the Capture One 21 format. (This is because the database structure is different to take account of new features that weren't there before, for example the dehaze feature.) If you click the OK button for this, Capture One automatically saves a backup of the catalog or the session in the old format.
As you open more sessions and/or catalogs, the recent files list will gradually fill up again.
There is no need to update the format of individual images - the processing engine for Capture One 20 and for Capture One 21 is the same.

Ian I have been using 21 and for some reason there not showing up but I'll check out your way thank you for the advice anything will help . I really appreciate you taking the time to reply. I'll let you know once I do it later tonight.

I use a referenced catalog - I just opened it in v21. I think it had to convert the catalog from 20 to 21 but it was seamless after that
Are you just trying to open your existing catalog or create a new one?

Just trying to transfer my old catalogs from 20 to 21. I can open them in 20 but can't transfer them to 21. even in my external hard drive 21 won't except my old catalogs . I'm going to see if Ian's way works . I'll check the referenced catalog to thank you .
also everyone that has helped me try to figure this out I didn't have this problem when I went from 12 to 20.

Just trying to transfer my old catalogs from 20 to 21
There is no "transfer". Your images don't move. A database inside your catalog is changed to match the features of version 21. That's it. Once the database is converted you can NOT go back to using Capture One 20. Except that Capture One makes a backup of your database so you can restore from the backup to go back to 20. If you do that you'll lose any changes made using 21.
Navigate to the location of your catalog using Finder. Right click on the catalog. Mouse over "Open with". If the default reads "Capture One 20" then click on "Other" and select Capture One 21. The program should launch, the catalog updated, and you can edit from there.
