Is there a way to copy only one variant into a project?
I'm in the process of moving from Lightroom to C1 and perhaps this is just not possible, but:
I usually have several variants of each photo as I try different looks. Can I create a project that only has one of the variants? What I've been doing is creating a project, then dragging the variant into it, but C1 adds all the variants. I know that I can collapse the variant 'stacks' with the icon in the upper left hand corner, but I don't want to drag the entire stack, just a single variant.
The other issue is that I create edits of my different series (landscapes or portraits for example) for various reasons, and they need to be limited to an edit of, say, ten images. So I want to create an edit of five landscapes and another edit of ten landscapes. If I have five variants of one images, and three variants of another, when I drag them into the edit, C1 shows me that the project contains 8 images, when it actually has two images that have a total of eight variants.
I may just have to create some sort of workaround, but it would be easier if I could do this directly in C1.

As far as I know it only works with SmartAlbums and keywords. Color tags also work, but they are not so flexible.
E.g. you assign the keyword Client-X to the photos you want to show to your customer. Then you create a SmartAlbum with the criterion "Keyword Contain Client-X".0 -

I had also thought about making separate jpegs, and using those - the winnowing down process for me comes at the end of the editing process so I don't need to make any additional edits. But I like your idea better

Aaargh - so I just tried your idea. C1 doesn't show the number of files in a smart album next to it, as it does with regular albums, only at the top of the window.
Might have to try another solution...
