Images appear in Capture One but I can't find them on my hard drive
When Capture one is open I can see images and their file names but when I copy and paste that file name into finder nothing comes up. I am trying to find a missing image (it jumps from 1 to 3) and as I can't locate any of them, I can't locate the missing file either. They must be there is Capture one is opening the folder but where are they?

If you right click the image in the browser in Capture One, you can select Show in Finder, and it should open a Finder window for the location of the image file.
Is it possible that you imported the images into a catalog and chose the location as In Catalog? If so they won't be visible in Finder because they are stored inside the catalog structure. You could check this if when you right-click the image you choose Show in Library instead. That should show you either the actual folder the image is in, or the In Catalog section of the Library tool if that's where they are.
If they are in the In Catalog location, you can easily move them out into your file system if you prefer. Just drag and drop from In Catalog to the appropriate folder in the Library tool.

To be a little more precise, Capture One can store documents either within a catalog "file" that's actually a special Mac entity called a "package", or outside of the catalog. Stored within the catalog, it's called a Managed Catalog, and stored outside it's called a Referenced Catalog.
What Ian referred to is a Managed Catalog, and your images are stored in the catalog's package. You can see the files in the Finder by right-clicking on the catalog and choosing "Show Package Contents" from the contextual menu. Or as Ian said, in Capture One click and choose "Show in Finder", but the Finder itself won't be able to find the images.
I'd suggest that unless you have a specific reason for using a managed catalog, that you convert it to a referenced catalog so you can use either C1 or Finder to find the images. Converting is straightforward and is done by dragging everything in the managed catalog onto a location on-disk. I'm pretty sure this is discussed in Capture One's documentation or in one of David Grover's webinars.

Just a reminder - do the dragging in the Library tool in Capture One, NOT in Finder. That way, Capture One knows where the files have moved to, and keeps track of the edits you have done on them.
