Any downside to make one catalog for all photos in 2021? I don’t use Sessions.
I have historically kept my photos organized in folders by month and year (and used Lightroom which reflected that file structure). Now that I started using C1, I’m thinking of just using one giant file folder for all photos taken in 2021 and having one “2021” catalog for these photos in C1. I can add keywords, ratings and other metadata to make searching easier. Just wondering if there is any drawback to this? I don’t shoot sessions and take photos of many different subjects and places at random times throughout the day, so I have no reason to separate shoots into different sessions that I would need to access separately from each other.
thanks

If you are going to use one catalog per year that and keep all the images for the year in one giant folder why not simply store the images inside the catalog?

Thanks. Is there an advantage to store them in the catalog vs a folder labeled 2021? I still use Lightroom for DAM purposes sometimes so I was thinking keeping a 2021 folder may be best?

If you are going to use multiple programs you'll need to use one or more separate folders.

Thanks Andy - very helpful and I think I will take that approach.
