Can't find imports!

When you import you get a choice in the Import dialog box about where to import the files to.

The drop down list has three options:

    • Add to catalog leaves images in their existing location, and just adds them to the catalog database.
    • Copy into catalog stores the images inside the catalog structure - they won't be obviously visible in Windows File Explorer
    • Copy to Folder... allows you to choose any folder anywhere, internal or external, for your images to be copied to.

The first option can't be used when you import from a memory card - obviously you would lose access to the images as soon as the card was ejected.

    Hi Ian,

I have tried both add to catalog and copy to catalog with both files stored in my computer and direct from the memory card.

From computer memory: add to catalog - import all - import into the catalog.

A box pops up with "two images have been imported to internal catalog - no errors occurred during import. - "take me there" When i click that, "no images selected come on screen"

I don't know where to go from here, Picasa maybe :)

I suggest that if you have imported images to be inside the catalog, you could directly go to the In Catalog section in the Library tool. You should see the images that are stored in the catalog. (Only one in my screen shot - I don't usually put them there.) If you see No Images Selected, it is probably because you are in Viewer mode with no image selected. Try going to View>Viewer to toggle the Viewer off. You should then see your thumbnails. As long as one is selected, then going View>Viewer again should display it.

In "my pictures" on my laptop in Capture One Catalog i found  my recent attempts at importing in "originals" folder.

There is no "library" icon at all in Capture One's main page.

I tried the toggle off then on but could see nothing at all.

I will try deleting the Capture One program and reinstalling again, as before. There is obviously a way around this, but the amount of time i have spent is ridiculous.

Many thanks for your help and time.

Well i have deleted and reinstalled the program and i have exactly the same issue. Maybe somehow it is remembering previous setting, but i can't see how. Extremely disappointed that a catalog problem can cause so much time wasted and failure to be able to learn to edit. If i had paid for this i would be demanding my money returned.

Have you seen the tutorials on the Learning Hub, or on the Capture One YouTube channel for Capture One Express. Would they help?

    Hi Ian,

I have watched many on youtube and from this site. The issue is i follow directions, but what happens is not what happens on the tutorials. At that point i am wasting hours and hours using google and trying to see why.

I'm sure there is an easy fix for someone in the know, but trying to resolve through emails and not actually seeing the problem is difficult.

    Thanks :)

Hi, well slowly i am getting there, i managed to to actually import an image.

I have the photo ready to edit in the Q menu, but i can't adjust any of the tools there. The only thing that does happen is the histogram shows up when the curser is on the photo.

Are you sure that the videos you are following are for the Express version.

Where are you based? Any future in a short Zoom discussion or something?

    I am in Thailand.

I have just followed the video you sent the link to.

From you previous advise i can now import, this route. Import - choose photo - review for import - copy catalog - copy folder - click to edit

Now the Q menu sliders do not work.

I am sure there is an easy way to fix this and i understand my failings in computer use, i can follow instructions, but  i am terrible at understanding what to do when things do work.
