Sizing question

So my client need all the images to be sized to 3” width by 4” height, I’ve exported to 3/4 and I’ve made a recipe to 3/4 but it seem they are toTall when he loads them.. what am I doing wrong. I’m on Mac and he’s pc but I don’t think that should matter.

    3" by 4" on what device?  

    You need to know the DPI of the device he is using and set your px/in (or px/mm or px/cm) to the number that matches his device to fully specify the size of the image.   And unless his device has exactly the same resolution as yours the images won't be the same size on your machine as it is on his.  Also, if the client has multiple devices there is no guarantee they will all use the same DPI. 

    Your client may be better off if they could tell you "I need an image xxx pixels by yyy pixels" and let them do the sizing.
