Sharpening problem

I am scanning film 35mm and 120

the sharpening is giving a very strange 'red edge' to the images 

and the noise reduction is not working 

I have edited the images in 'other applications..' and do not get this problem

Film naturally needs a lot of sharpening and noise reduction from the v550.. 

the red edge is more noticeable when the image is zoomed out 'filled screen'

I'm pulling my hair out I thought I'd scanned the images wrong 

It looks like focus peaking
