Why are some pictures locked and how to unlock them ?

I noticed that the locked one were either small or in black and white (or both). Is it the reason ? I have tried to save them in RVB and enlarge them but it doesn't unlock them. Is there a solution ?

    Images must be RGB and at least 512 pixels in their smallest dimension.   Capture One does not handle grayscale or images smaller than 512x512.   I had to upscale a bunch of 640x480 images in order to edit them.

    These requirements are listed somewhere on the Capture One web site.

    Thank you very much for your answer Marco. It helps a lot. for some reason I have some smaller jpgs that works fine but what you say is mostly correct. Now I have to find a way to select all locked images at once  in order to enlarge them
