Camera Error - Capture one 21 - Canon R5
Hello,
I am using a camera Canon R5 and I am trying to use a tether cable. When I plug my theater cable into the computer, the camera is not showing up and it says " Camera Error". I updated my Capture One 21. Restarted everything many times. I have Mac Catalina. Can someone help me with this?

I am having the same problem, the connection is at best very erratic. Out of 20 attempts to tether, maybe it worked three times.

I'm having the same problem as well... It used to work, no problem. And now all of the sudden I keep getting this error. Already tried it without my SD card in the camera. Pulled the battery for about 20 sec. Formatted both of the card. Restarted and updated C1 (to 14.2). Nothing seems to work.
Anyone who knows how to solve this?

I am having exactly the same issue. I have the Canon 5Div and a brand new tether cable as I thought that may be the issue. I can connect my camera to capture one if capture one is closed. I connect my camera and turn it on and then open capture one. But if I turn my camera off or unplug the camera I cannot connect to capture one again and I get the same error message.
Please can someone help us all. Thanks

Did anyone get an answer. I'm having same problem with 5DIV. Worked fine with Capture One Pro 20 with same equipment.

This is ridiculous. Is anybody from Capture One even reading this? This was supposed to be PRO stuff... but is some stuff only. I am having the same issue with my R5. Sometimes it takes me 30 minutes until it finally works. Used to be like 5 minutes of connecting and disconnecting, switching usb ports, unplugging and all sort of things that shouldn't be necessary. It's getting worse and worse... Lightroom on the other hand works like charm. Always sees the camera. Sometimes C1 starts to work when I start tether in Lightroom, shoot one photo, shut down Lightroom and run C1 again. Like C1 needs some competition to look at... I am a professional. It happens on real shoots I do for living. Wake up C1!!! MacOs X 11.16.1, tether tools cable...

This forum is offered mainly as a user-to-user facility - so you are complaining to fellow users.
For Official Technical Support you need to create a Support Case using the "Submit a request" option (or similar links) found throughout the Support system.
In the meantime you might want to check to see if C1 thinks you have any Network cameras connected.
Also check the connection mode of the camera depending on whether you are seeking to use full C1 control tethering or the Hot Folder option.
Finally, are you still using V21 rather than V22?
I ask as you have posted in an old V21 thread but that may simply be because it exists and you found it rather than reflecting what you actually working with.
In some cases for some Canon cameras recently reported problems seem to have been resolved after camera firmware updates. I have no idea if that would be relevant for you R5.
There have also, from memory, been some reports of connection problem being resolved when other applications on the system have been disabled. I vaguely recall something about a Google product - Drive perhaps? - that was causing issues for one or two people in some situations.

Here's what works for me..
It might not be the ideal solution but it does do the trick for me: Remove both cards from the cardslot.

The last time I tried this with my R5, it worked properly on the new version of Capture One. I will try again and let you know.

I've bought the whole license for C1 v21 just before the v22 came out. I am not so willing to pay for the update almost as much as for the whole version. I think it's a steal. I will try to check your solutions. The camera doesn't write to the card while tethering to C1 anyway so it's the easiest way. My R5 is updated to the fresh firmware 1.5.0. The R5 was supposed to be supported by C1 since v20. Thank you for your response.

The question about V21 or V22 was asked because V22 has introduced some revisions for Canon tethering related mostly to Wireless tethering options for certain camera bodies.
If you happened to be using V22 your experience might be different to that of a V21 user and so there could be some potential for confusion.

Hey, I'm having the same issue. It's so bad that I had to use the Canon Utility to shoot tethered. SO download Version 21 or 22?

I shoot several times a week with C1 22 and 2x Canon R5 with no errors. No cards in the camera firmware 1.5.2. Original Tether Tools cable and Macbook 16" M1 Max, OS Monterey. No problems so far...
