Capture One & Canon 5dMIV Tether Problem

Hi all,

My new canon 5DMIV is having issues tethering with Capture 1. I've tried with both Capture 10 and the new capture 21 and they are having the same issue. I've tried tethering with EOS Utility and it works with no issues, so I am pretty sure it's a Capture issue.

The issue:

When turning on the camera with it tethered, it initially connects, I take a shot with the camera and it works, but if I switch to taking a shot with capture - it gets stuck. It still says it is connected, but no image comes through. I turn the camera off, and it says 'recording .2.. images' until I restart the camera by taking out the battery.

It is doing this everytime, so it's impossible to tether with Capture on a job with this issue. It seems to work better if I only shoot from Capture - but then it still randomly stops a few shots in and does the same thing. 

(I have also tried turning the wifi on the camera off & with and without a memory card. I've also submitted a request but haven't heard back yet)

Has anyone had a similar issue and can help? Never had any issues tethering with my M iii.

    There have been quite a few threads on this subject in the forum.

    Have you run a search already and found them?

    If not they may offer information you need without waiting for someone with experience of the same situation to visit here and offer advice.
