What is the best way to go from C1 to LR and then back to C1?
I am switching from LR to C1 because I love the way I can modify color ranges. Especially for skin tones. But C1 is terrible at some things. Culling in C1 is so much slower then in LR and cropping and rotating is so laggy compared to LR. I also use Evolve to do my basic color corrections and all these kind of studios don't do this on C1 catalogs. So for those 3 things I need to go to LR.
On a wedding day I do my primary import in C1 because I need to edit a series of sneak peak photos on that day and I have my style configured in C1. Step to is to cull, crop and rotate the images. Because LR is just so much snappier for this I need to move back to LR for this step. I just simply import the same folder in LR.
Then I can sent this LR Catalog to Evolve so they can do the basic color corrections. The result is an edited LR catalog.
My question is: What would be the best way to move back and forth? When I import the LR catalog into C1 it makes a totally new folder even though the photo's are already imported.
I was thinking of maybe saving the XML's in LR but is that the only or best way?

maybe the best is not use any of this software for importing and culling but photomechanic. you can start culling even during import and it is much faster than c1 or LR for this task, i´m sure you will appreciate the time you save. it also allows you to apply color tags which c1 or LR can read or simply move your selection to a new folder for c1, then the only thing you need to do is locate the files in the c1 image browser and you are ready to edit them.

Hoi CSP....
Thx for your reply. I appreciate the input.
I have Photo Mechanic so I know what it can do :)
When you make standard sized previews and do the culling in the Library module (not the Develop module which makes things very slow) I find LR isn't that much slower then Photo Mechanic. When I quickly need to view files from a memory card or network volume, Photo Mechanic is my preferred choice. You're missing one major thing and that is that I have my color corrections done by Evolve and they do this based on a LR catalog. Even ShootDotEdit doesn't do C1 catalogs. So for that I still need LR. And because of that the culling, cropping and rotating can be done in LR for this proces.
Because I do have to edit some photos on a wedding day, the primary import is done in C1 and I tag the photos that I have edited. Then I have to make a LR catalog so I can send the batch out for color correction. The result is an edited corrected catalog which I want to re-import in C1 adding the changes only.
