Programme freezes when clicking on Select All or more than 4 manually picked
Hi, I am having problems when selecting several images at a time.
Capture One 21
Subscription License Key: C9C3-ETM9-A35N-E9YU – 16/08/2020
Programme download and Application on HD G
Capture Pro catalog on HD G.
Backup on HD H
Catalog Backup Export to HD M
Operating System Windows 10 64bit HD C
Three weeks ago, my OS failed, and I had to reinstall.
Since then, I have been experiencing problems with Capture Pro.
The problem lies with selecting multiple images only.
If I use “Select - Select All” or individually select more than 4 images within the browser, the program freezes, and all images selected start flashing one after the other in a never-ending circle. I can only close the programme using Task Manager.
If I keep to 4 or under all is ok.
Occasionally when I click on an image above 1 i.e. 2, 3, 4 it does not highlight, if I click on it again the programme goes into its frenzy state as if I had chosen more than 4 or clicked on Select All.
If I leave it and just work on those highlighted everything works as normal.
If I, open the catalog / session it loads. However, all the images chosen prior to the freeze immediately come up as Black areas with a small darker black line in the middle and each image area flashes in rotation. The program is frozen, and I must use Task Manager to close. There is no point, in the loading process, where I can manually intervene.
No other activity within capture pro is causing a problem and works as is expected.
All the images load into the browser. I can load new images without problem. Clicking on any filter button loads the images into the browse as expected.
In other words, the issue only arises if I
- Click on “Select All”
- Select more than 4 images in the Browser regardless of if that is by choosing each image individually or as a group.
- If I click a second time on an image that is not highlighted / chosen at the first click.
What I have been doing so as not to lose my work after working on the images (or part of my work on the images when a lot of changes are to be made on several images) I export the catalog / session to another area on my computer, then if problems arise I only loose the current stuff I am working on.
Each time I open a new (exported) catalog the number of images shown in Library – “All Images” remain the same and accurate, but within the Browser the number shown differs. To begin with the difference was 3 images and now it has reached 26. Why is there a difference between one and the other, and why with the opening of a newly exported catalog does the number difference become larger?
Another issue I have had since reinstalling my OS I have a two-monitor set up.
My Capture One Browser is on the right-hand side.
Prior to my OS problem if I right clicked on an image / images within the browser, the drop-down box appears and if then I clicked on an arrowhead the list within showed up on the left-hand side as if it were a single monitor set up. Now it shows up on the right-hand side meaning it is now on the second monitor. Everything works and it is just annoying having to navigate to the second screen to activate a command.
My monitor and preferences show no change from those set prior to the OS crashing.
Thank you for any help and advice.

I have exactly the same problems. Were you able to resolve it in any way?

Hi Sergio,
Unfortunately, no. and as yet I have not heard back from technical support.Every time I forgot to limit the number I had problems so I restrcted the number of selections after which I exported images as a catalog. File - Export Images - Export as a Cataog. I gave the same name each time (My Master Catalog) but used a different location, and then continue working on the original. I have now completed all the multiple image manipulations, so I only have my main working catalog and 2 backups on two different external drives.
I have created a 4th on an internal drive to play around with and test. Just before I received your contribution, I did test it out and it did not fail. I will do this a few more times before I risk manipulating "All" or over 4 within my main cataog. It may have resolved itself overtime or just a fluke with this particular catalog giving me a false sense of security.
I will contact technical support again in about 2 weeks’ time if they have not got back to me.
On another subject - I noticed that support issues sent either to the community or technical support are getting very few responses. The number of help postings also appear to be less than normal.
