Programmable automation for selection of images for output or even processing,
Years ago I wanted to make a HDR panorama, and ended up with 84 images in total. I used Nikon D3 for the shoot and setup my to shoot using bracketed mode for shooting, making 7 exposures at an interval of 1/3 stop varying the shutter speed for each exposure. After each bracket set, I rotated the tripod head about 1/2 the field of view to provide overlap for the panorama sticker, ending up with 12 bracket sets ( which pretty much would yield a 180 degree panorama).
Being somewhat ignorant at the time I was unaware of the image ordering when writing the the memory card, so ended up this series if shutter speeds as generated by the D3:
1/200, 1/400, 1/320, 1/250, 1/160, 1/125 and 1/100
I was expecting the bracketing to happen in the following manner:
1/400, 1/320, 1/250, 1/200, 1/160, 1/125 and 1/100
or its inverse. I got a list that is "out of order" (otherwise referred to as MULTIPLEXED, but at least the same over the 12 different bracket sets.
Now years later I have graduated to Capture One 21. I would like to be able to assign an image rating automatically. What I am looking for is any automation such as handing off the whole set of 84 images, but in logical groups. Output all images that meet certain criteria,
a) scan the list of files of the session and only generate an output TIFF having a particular shutter speed selected by the user, say 100; or a list of shutter speeds specified by the user, say (100, 125, 160, 200, 250, 320, 400), but in the same logical order of files stored in the session, for example: #1, #8, #15, #22, #27, ... would be the collection of all the images a 1/400 shutter speed.
b) scan the list of files of the session and only assign a color particular color rating based on shutter speed, for example, if shutter speed is 1/100 assign RED, if 1/125 assign ORANGE, etc... at the end of the color assignments, then output the all the REDS, OR all the ORANGES, OR all the GREENS...
I am sure there are multiple different occasions that a "programmable automation" can reorder images for output the user desires or needs.
The net result would be DEMULTIPLEXING of the [partially] scrambled order if the images. This greatly simplify the file sorting and be way less error prone than by doing it manually.
It is conceivable semi-automatic processing could be done this way as well: If RED then CLARITY( C:amount, S:amount)
If GREEN CLARITY( C:different amount, S:0)
Can this type of demultiplexing and output currently possible using today; CAPTURE ONE? If not, can this be transferred to the developers as a new feature for development?
