    Hi Rose,

You just right click on the parent folder in your Capture One library, then "locate".

Thank you Robert for taking the time to reply. Yes that is what I have been trying - moving up and down the  the various levels of User Collections but Locate stays stubbornly greyed out.

I think I may just give up, as a retired designer I am now finding both the horse-power and price of C1 make it more than I really need now. Time to move to something like Photos for my catalog, and other software for editing

    Cheers

    Hi Rose,

I understand why it stays greyed out. It is because you are working on "User collections". You can't "locate" user collections, as they are built from images coming from various folders.

The only way to proceed is to go, below, to "Folders". If you click on "+" in "Folders", you'll be able to retrieve all your hierarchy in your C1 library. When I told you to click on the parent folder and then "Locate", it was there. If your structure is the same in your old and new disks, with the same folder names, clicking on your parent folder (and not collection) will show you "Locate" as active.

    Hi Robert

Yes I understand it is the user files that are the primary target for <locate> . I guess when that did not work I desperately tried the same approach on the User Collection. Anyhow following your last post I repeated the process, but this time actually went through every folder, both parent and child.

At least what I have now is that the catalogue at the very top of the library tool is showing all my pictures on line.

The user collections below that is now worse. Some folders are showing the images still off-line while in others they have disappeared all together. Go figure :)

I am not going to panic. After years of practice of getting myself into numerous "bugger's muddles" I have found that patience usually reveals the stupid users error that I have been making. This one will be a weird one,I am sure.

I hope you and yours are rremaining healthy in these uncertain times

    Hi,

I'm interested if you have any followup or solution for this issue.

All files in my Catalog folders are suddenly 'Offline'.  My files are on an ExHD and there is a green bar showing in my Library window showing it is connected.  I can see previews of all files.  I tried to 'Locate' just one file, but when clicking on 'Locate' the file disappeared from my folder and I do not see it anywhere!  I'm in a muddle.
