FYI, my files sit on one (of four) M.2 SSD that is installed on the Sonnet M.2 4x4 PCIe card. Speed of SSD cannot be the issue here.

Your file sit on ONE of the installed SSD (on Sonnet 4x4), as you say it.

Are you sure the other MacPro is not configured in RAID, which would then write on 2 (or more) SSDs simultaneously, reducing the time to write the files ?

    Hi Claude,

indeed, my M.2's are currently not RAID-configured (although I did some tests when I got the Sonnet card, RAID 0 is incredibly fast).

But I don't believe Paul uses RAID either, he doesn't mention it anywhere. Since he uses the MacPro out-of-the-box, I presume he used the internal 4TB SSD. But sure, only he can tell ;-)

I decided to do the test. I copied the 1200 raw files (64 GB) from the M.2 to the built-in Apple 1TB SSD (takes less than a minute) and imported them from there in C1 (v21). Same result, this task also takes 31 minutes.
