Sony A1 support in Capture one 20?
I noticed that Sony A1 is now supported in Capture One 21. I am wondering if will also supported in version 20?

I would be surprised. It didn't happen very often that a just released camera was supported by an older version of Capture One. But, who knows ? You could submit a request by clicking at the top right corner of this page.

Thanks Robert.
I put the question to support. The reply was that Capture one support on the latest current version! So if I want support for new body then I have to purchase the latest version or go on the subscription plan.
This is not nice. But that was the reply.

This is not unusual for software. Adobe and others do it as well. The good news is that C1 still has a perpetual license option, so you only need to buy a newer version if you get a new camera, the version you have stops running on your machine (as in "OS upgrade killed it"), or the new version has a compelling feature for you.
An option to consider (which I don't recommend) is to convert your images to DNG with Adobe's free DNG Converter. If you go this route, though, be sure to tick the option to embed the original Raw file. Reason: DNG has its own ICC profile and may not save all the IPTC data your camera does. While C1 works pretty well with DNG, later you may need what DNG stripped. Also note that including the Raw approximately doubles the DNG's size.

Of course it's "nice" - otherwise they would have to update every old version of Capture One to support new cameras.

Yes I understand the complexity and the cost associated with supporting all the previous versions!
This not new to software systems and usually vendors announce the end of the support for older versions!
I was surprised to find out it’s implicit in case of capture one! The support end with every new release!
Also updating the raw file support for new bodies should not put ton of overhead on support effort!
In any case, capture one is free to do things their way.
