Hi... I do have a 'Generic' Session created on my HD (Picture folder, for instance); so, everytime I like to see/work/edit/ images in CO I just drag the folder I like to see into tap Library/Session Favorites or you can just add by using '+'. Note that CO will create into that folder its settings related with all the images, even if you do not edited them that will be created, you can deleted if no changes with no problem afterward. You can also browse via Sytem Folders and find your folder, I just like to have it in the Favs list. I hope it helps.

    Pete,

Express versions require a Catalog to function.

Other versions can use both catalogs and sessions.

You can leave the image files where they are in your file structure and just let the "Import" process build what is effectively and index of those files together with thumbnails, an initial preview file and all of the data components required for your edits held in the catalog database.

Sessions, as described by Fernando, do much the same thing with the data except they do not store the specific edit data for the images in the session file, just the references to folders of files that have been imported or folders that have been identified as "Favourites" whether imported or not.

All thumbnails, previews and edits file(s) created by sessions are held in subfolders of the folder in which image files reside. Just as Fernando has described.
