CapOne 20 Catalog Import Crashing. Any ideas?
Help advice and guidance appreciated.
My end goal is to have four catalogs of images with Sports, Family, Clients and Personal images.
They were all in two large catalogs of referenced images which I have split into now into smaller subject catalogs. Each original catalog was divided and then exported to create catalogs as follows. Approx 10,000 images in each new smaller catalog.
Cat A - Sports, Family, Clients and Personal
Cat B - Sports, Family, Clients and Personal
I have verified each smaller catalog db. All ok.
I have successfully imported the Cat B Sports into Cat A sports. Also successful with Family, and client pairs.
However, for the two personal catalogs, when I try and import, the system waits a second or two and then closes/crashes. I have verified the two catalogs all ok. The catalogs are located on my internal SSD. All images are on an external SSD. I have opened Cat A and tried to import Cat B. Also tried opening Cat B and importing Cat A. Both fail.
Does anyone have any suggestions that I might try?
I am thinking of going back to the start and recreating the smaller Cat A and Cat again for Personal images to see if they will merge but happy to try something else if anyone can think of anything.
NB
I do now have the Cap 21 upgrade but I am not sure I should introduce another variable into the equation so I haven’t loaded it up yet.
Thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Is it possible that the Personal catalogs share something unique to those catalogs only - like an unsupported file of some sort lying around in a folder?
I would guess that the log files might offer some clues, based on the point at which the failure occurs, but it's difficult to think of anything that might offer more specific knowledge of exactly what is happening.

By way of an update this may help other users with any similar problems.
The crash log suggested I had empty collections and a null import appeared to be causing the problem.
I duly deleted all the empty collections in both of the Personal catalogs. Sadly this still didn't work.
As part of my pre planning I had created about 10 or so projects in each catalog and had moved all groups and folders into one of the projects. So I then proceeded to export all of the 10 project folders as their own catalogs from one of the main catalogs (Cat A). I then started to import each of these new smaller 'project' catalog in to the main Cat B catalog. They all imported except one. That had 252 images in it. I couldnt see anything odd about it but it caused the crash again each time I tried to import it. My workaround was to import the 252 images as a normal import into my main Cat B. For me it was easy as they were all from one shoot event.
So I now have 4 smaller catalogs and have merged the original Cat A and Cat B.
I am left with:-
Personal, Sport, Family and Clients.
I have upgraded to Cap 21 and all seems well.
Hope this helps someone in the future.
Cheers, Roger
