CapOne 20 Catalog Import Crashing. Any ideas?

Is it possible that the Personal catalogs share something unique to those catalogs only - like an unsupported file of some sort lying around in a folder?

I would guess that the log files might offer some clues, based on the point at which the failure occurs, but it's difficult to think of anything that might offer more specific knowledge of exactly what is happening.

By way of an update this may help other users with any similar problems.

The crash log suggested I had empty collections and a null import appeared to be causing the problem.

I duly deleted all the empty collections in both of the Personal catalogs.  Sadly this still didn't work.

As part of my pre planning I had created about 10 or so projects in each catalog and had moved all groups and folders into one of the projects. So I then proceeded to export all of the 10 project folders as their own catalogs from one of the main catalogs (Cat A). I then started to import each of these new smaller 'project' catalog in to the main Cat B catalog.  They all imported except one.  That had 252 images in it.  I couldnt see anything odd about it but it caused the crash again each time I tried to import it.  My workaround was to import the 252 images as a normal import into my main Cat B.  For me it was easy as they were all from one shoot event.

So I now have 4 smaller catalogs and have merged the original Cat A and Cat B.

    I am left with:-

    Personal, Sport, Family and Clients.

I have upgraded to Cap 21 and all seems well.

Hope this helps someone in the future.

    Cheers,  Roger
