Aspect ratio token for export
ImplementedHey all, it would be great to export pictures to a folder based on the aspect ratio. I want to use my pictures as background on my mac (with an external monitor) and my smartphone, so I usually create multiple variants with different crops (16x9 for my external monitor, 16x10 for my macbook and 20x9 for my phone). I'd like to select all the variants for multiple images and export the jpgs to a folder named based on the aspect ratio (so then I can choose the 16x10 folder as a base folder to pick backgrounds for my macbook).
Thanks for your job, capture one is great!

You could name your recipe to include the aspect ratio in the name, and have it export to a folder named using the recipe name token.

Ok, but then you need a different recipe for each aspect ratio you manage. I was thinking of an aspect ratio token to use a single recipe. In this way it would be possible to select multiple images of multiple aspect ratios and export them in the right folder using a single recipe

I think I am correct to observe that the aspect ratio would need to be calculated since only dimensions are stored in a variant edit dataset and yet the Output recipe sets specific output dimension values depending on the recipe settings.
Aspect ratio alone does not guarantee, for example, grouping by size. And to follow on from that many people consider that settings like sharpening are explicitly related to output size and potential viewing medium - screen or print for example. Hence why the recipe process and all that it offers might be considered as being more critical than Aspect Ratio to getting the best results to suit a purpose. And doing so consistently, batch after batch, once the recipes have been created.
If using a fixed set of aspect ratios and cropping to those requirements I can see where you might gain some benefits. However, I tend to crop on an unconstrained basis and use the recipes to manage the output sizes and deliver to separate folders in a batch run based on the recipes.
Perhaps the best way would be to embed output recipe information into the variant settings data. However, that would then represent a challenge for mass changes - for different print media or screen development requirements.
I see a risk of greatly over complicating the system quite quickly but can understand the idea behind the proposal if one has high volume throughput and very consistent needs.
