XMP files not syncing
My capture one no longer sync's XMP files, changing rating or colour tags has no effect. I have a simple need, all I wish to do is separate the wanted files and delete the rest in block not one by one, is this possible? When the XMP sync worked it was easy in another package, in capture one I can only delete one by one, not much fun when I have hundreds to delete.
Thank you in advance.

Look at Preferences, Image tab. What is the value of Auto Sync Sidecar XMP? I'm guessing None. If so you have two choices:
- Set it to Full Sync -- I find this too slow to use most of the time
- Use Cmd-S to force a sync after updating your metadata. Oops, it looks like Cmd-S is a shortcut I added. The menu item is Image -> Sync Metadata.
That said, I don't understand your simple need and how it pertains to XMP file syncing.

Hi,
Thank you for replying.
My value is Full Sync (you find it too slow? What does that mean) when it did work I was experimenting with lower res preview to enhance performance this comment about slowness indicates that could be
the reason it doesn't work now as i went back to larger preview images. I shall try the smaller res previews.
Cmd-S just results in a sound effect.
My simple need is how do I delete permanently more than 1 file at once?
Many thanks
Tim

Just to report, small preview size had no effect, still no XMP file writing done by capture 1, it seems to be stuck on using embedded XMP rather than using sidecar XMP as capture sees the change and no other program does. In other programs I know how to block delete (delete more than 1 file at once) in capture 1 I don't, bet you do though please share.
Thanks

I edited my original post to note that on my machine Cmd-S was a keyboard shortcut for Image -> Sync Metadata. Sorry about that.
it seems to be stuck on using embedded XMP rather than using sidecar XMP as capture sees the change and no other program does.
Capture One will see the change because it is written to a database only used by Capture One. Image -> Sync Metadata should copy those changes to an XMP file. Let me check.... I added some metadata (star, keywords, caption) to an image and then did Image -> Sync Metadata. Capture One created an XMP file for that image. The contents of the XMP file look OK to me.
I added a color tag and did Image -> Sync Metadata again. The XMP file was updated to include the color tag. It seems to be working OK for me using build 14.1.1.63.
To delete multiple images select all the images you wish to delete and use cmd-delete. However check the status of "Edit Selected" in your toolbar or the menu item Image -> Edit All Selected Variants. If Edit Selected is Off (Edit All Selected Variants does not have a check mark) then only the "most selected" item will be deleted. Or changed. Or metadata saved, etc. To make your changes apply to all of the selected images you must turn Edit Selected ON.

Thank you I can now delete multiple files all in capture one without the need for another package.
A big relief.

I'm back again, so I do the delete from disk get the "these actions cannot be undone) press OK do the delete. From Capture they are gone, but no they are not in other programs they are still there. Is this because I have the free express version?
