How to add geotags

I don't think it can be done within Capture One.  You will have to use some external program to geotag the image then tell Capture One to re-read the image metadata (load metadata).

I use the program I wrote to do this ==> https://www.snafu.org/GeoTag/

There are plenty of other apps that do the same thing.  Pick the one that works best for you.

    Thanks for the quick response.

I can use an app such as HoudahGeo. But how do I add the info to the RAW file that is embedded into a C1 catalog (I do that for portability).

I right click on an image in the Capture One browser and use the "Show in Finder" option.  In the resulting Finder window I right click on the image and use "Open with" to open it with the geotagging app I want to use.   After saving the location changes I close the app and the Finder window and right click on the image in the browser again and select Load Metadata.

I use the excellent “Exif Editor”.

Allows you to pinpoint you geotags from a map, and also to manipulate other EXIF info (like time, for example, the days you forgot to change to Summer Time - or viceversa :-) )

Thanks for the replies. For the benefit of anyone else, here's how I did it.

Assuming that the image is embedded in the C1 catalog...

    • Select the catalog in Finder.
    • Right-click and select Show Package Contents.
    • Navigate through the Originals folder structure to find the target image.
    • Open the image with Metalimage (or any tag editor).
    • Find the location data and write it to the file (Process button).
    • Open the catalog in C1.
    • Right-click the image and select Load metadata.

Works a treat and output files will now include the geo location.

    Cheers

I decided to use Houdah Geo and imported in all my exif geolocation and reverse geolocation, so that I can filter by IPTC location tags. I also appreciate having a map to show me the location of my shootings.
