PC restarting during editing

Check for driver updates, especially for the GPU card(s) that C1 has identified during start up.

If nothing is listed or if that does not make a difference there may be a more fundamental Windows issue.

A recent background Windows update on my system left me with a frozen system that failed to restart (black screen) and did not respond to normal commands at the Windows level. The only thing that told me the system was doing anything at all was the backlighting on the keyboard switching on and off. Since I thought Windows auto-updates were tyrned off this took me by surprise. I think Microsoft have now by-passed the option to turn off updates in some cases.

Did you check if Windows logged a reason for the restart?

Can be checked in the event viewer: E.g.: https://www.reviversoft.com/blog/2013/12/how-to-find-out-the-cause-of-your-bsod/

If so, what was the reason?

@SFA: Doesn't surprise me. MS has removed the option concerning auto-updates in Windows 10. Best you can do is to postpone the updates (except for the Enterprise edition)
