multiple pre-views?

5000 images.

A) All in separate session folders on my hard drive.

B) On an external drive an identically structured backup.

C) On a DVD collection a further identical back-up, except that the collection is sliced into various DVDs.

The images in A), B), and C) are named identically.

I would like to have one catalog in C1 with one set of previews (for space reasons) but referencing the images in all three locations.  Is that possible?  Or must I use different catalogs for A), B), and C)?  Or one catalog but with three imports and three sets of previews?

    Probably not. I would be surprised(!) if it is.

    You could potentially delete preview files from your backup copies and have C1 re-create them if a backup copy is ever restored and opened in C1. See https://svenstork.com/blog/quick-tip-how-to-delete-captureone-preview-files
