Sony Xperia 5ii
Can you please add Sony smartphones to the Capure One license for Sony cameras? Specifically, the Xperia 5 ii.

> Saket Shroff: add Sony smartphones to the Capure One license for Sony cameras
My C1 Pro v20 opens DNG-files from Xperia 5 II.
But: The Sony Xperia 5 II team opted to not embed embed preview images in the DNG. First time browsing in C1 shows empty preview/thumbnail frames. When I open a Xperia 5 II DNG for edit (double click) and then close the editor, C1 creates its own preview on disk and show me that C1 preview rather than the empty preview frame.
Most cameras embed (jpeg) preview images in raw files. My Nikon cameras embed two jpeg preview images regardless the main image file being .NEF or .JPG. Sony cameras embed jpeg previews in their .ARW files, albeit not a full resolution preview like Nikon and Canon cameras do.
You may perhaps use the free Adobe DNG converter to create previews and embed them in your DNGs to work around the smartphone omission. The alternative is to set the Xperia 5 II to shoot raw + jpeg and use the jpeg for first time navigation.

Thanks for the response. I'm able to view the thumbnails with no issue but the edit controls are all grayed out. Sounds like maybe I need the full version of C1 as opposed to just Sony license.

If one is using a Manufacturer only version of the license for C1, C1 will look for Manufacturer identification in the files it reads. If it does not find what it is looking for editing is not possible.
The full version, not limited to a specific manufacturer, does not care. So any supported file type that is not excluded by other constraints will work, although a "RAW" file stored as a DNG without embedded camera RA data may not offer a great basis for a full quality edit.
