    Have you considered Affinity Photo?

It seems like a popular low-cost alternative to PhotoShop.

I second the suggestion of Affinity Photo. It's even less expensive than Photoshop Elements, yet it does pretty much the same things as full Photoshop. (Elements has some extra features that you may not need if your main work is done with Capture One, in that Elements has Catalog features, which neither Photoshop nor Affinity do.)

Elements has more of a "guided" editing approach if you want to use it. (I'd rather not, but you may like it.) Or you can ignore that and do your own thing.

Both Photoshop Elements and Affinity Photo offer 30-day free trials, so you could try both and see which you prefer.

Hi SFA & Ian. Thank you for your input. I do know Affinity Photo and it is excellent indeed for a low price. But it also has a steep learning curve that I'm not willing to invest in.

Won't be using a pixel editor that often (most of the time I can just suffice with Capture One), so the learning curve is too steep for me.

I've downloaded a trial of Photoshop Elements, and I'm pretty happy with its guided modes, so I'll probably keep using that. It's more than enough for what I need it, and it's easy to use.
